Embrace Your Inner Weirdo.

Most people act the way society wants them to, which often makes them behave like robots or puppets. They try to seek approval from people who aren’t going to give them any. Even if they do get the approval they want, it will not give them any peace, because they are behaving in a way which isn’t true to themselves.

I have always made fun of myself and called myself weird. I don’t mind being laughed at, in fact I’ve (sadly) gotten used to it. At least I’m not forcing myself to be someone I’m not.

Me being weird. Pouting is weird.

When I narrate an incident or something very funny about myself or how I behaved in a certain situation, I always end the story by saying ‘I know, I’m weird‘. The reason I say that is because I know that the other person is thinking just that. I’ve had many people tell me ‘You’re really weird’, either that or I’ve seen the expression on their faces when I say or do something which isn’t ‘normal’.

Now by telling people that ‘I know, I’m weird‘ I’m putting myself in a box, by making myself believe that being ‘normal’ is the right thing, and being ‘weird’ is frowned upon.

But what exactly is the definition of ‘normal’? Doesn’t it not boil down to seeking approval from others, by comparing ourselves to the ‘correct’ way other people behave? And isn’t that very, very wrong?

Just like nobody is perfect, nobody is normal. Each one of us have our own personality traits, some of which will never be accepted by those around us. We all have a character we love being, which we are most comfortable with, but which we are also ashamed of.

But by constantly hating our true selves, we are only giving others a chance to hurt and criticize us. Stop the self-hatred, immediately.

You are wonderful and if that inner weirdo is trapped inside wanting to be let out, go embrace it. Learn to love yourself, learn to be yourself. And if people laugh at you, learn to laugh along.

Trust me, being real and happy is definitely better than being fake and sad.

Note :

The following are not weird, they’re downright creepy, and frowned upon by me. I request you not to embrace the same, at least not with me :

Being a narcissist – If only I could give you a mirror to show you what a prick you are, but all you’d do is stare at yourself in awe. You love yourself, but everyone hates you.

Sharing nudes with strangers – I’m not even comfortable seeing my own body naked, so I really don’t know why you found the need to blind me with a picture of yours?

Bullying/cheating/lying/being racist – You want to go around torturing people, so be it. Just don’t cry when karma shows you who’s boss.

Flirting – Enough already! I do not need your saving, I do not need your love, if you ask me what I want, it’s a cupboard in which you I can shove. (Too scary? Well, your flirting creeps me out that much.)

I’ll add more to the list soon. Haha.

Thank you for reading! Stay blessed!

    1. Hahahaha idiot! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Don’t give creeps the wrong impression. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
You’re as abnormally normal as I am! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚

        1. You’ll get shoved in a cupboard then, as promised. ๐Ÿ˜‚
          Accha okay, normally abnormal. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
          Bharath! Bharath! Bharath!

                    1. Those cops stand na at the signals saying ‘You traffic, you wait, okay’ and hold out their hand, like as if they are hulk and can physically stop the traffic from moving forward. That’s cop wala high five. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

                    2. Hahahaha no you’re the one who gave ๐Ÿคš high five. I commented on it. ๐Ÿ˜
Besides, with the number of fans you have, I guess I will have to be the traffic cop. ๐Ÿ˜œ

                    3. Arre you started it. You said Booyah. I thought of Booyaka, and then Waka Waka. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. Thank you so much dear.
Hahaha even I can’t wink properly, I look funny when I do. ๐Ÿ˜‚
      Naah, you aren’t weird. You’re awesome! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

  1. Another fantastic post, full of wonderful observations. I wrote a post not too long ago titled “I’m weird”. I guess I’m part of that club. ๐Ÿ˜‰ As far as nude photos with strangers? I think (or hope) that I’m exempt from this rule, since some of my posts show me naked, but my followers are not strangers? ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thanks so much, Rob! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›
I’ll definitely read that post. Haha yeah, we’re weirdos. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Your posts, even if they do have nudity, are full of humour. Also, your followers don’t mind it as they are well aware of the type of content you post.

But there are guys who send pictures of their ‘assets’ to girls they don’t know, which is downright creepy. I don’t know what they expect the girls to reply, but they are definitely blocked after that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I wouldn’t want to be kind to someone as a normal friend and then see a picture of their naked body when I didn’t intend to put out that vibe. That’s the reason I wrote that. ๐Ÿ˜

  2. Amazing post Ellen!
I definitely agree that everyone has their own unique personality and everyone owns and hone it.๐Ÿ˜
If you say you’re weird, I call myself highly unpredictable. ๐Ÿ˜œ
    PS: Beautiful picture. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Thanks so much, Priya! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›
Hahaha don’t worry, we’re both sailing in the same boat. ๐Ÿ˜œ
      P. S. Thank you for the compliment! ๐Ÿ’›

  3. This is an amazing post. You are right. Even when I was reading your post, I realised that I am too scared of being myself. I am never vocal and don’t talk much when I am in front of many people. I always think what will others think if I am wrong. I know, this is bad but I don’t know how to get rid of this. I must do something right away๐Ÿ˜…
And about your list, perfectly true. I hate the kind of people you listed out and they are the real creeps, true๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. Hey Ramyani! Thanks so much for the lovely comment! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›
I was just like you before. The key is to be able to laugh and make a fool of yourself as often as possible. Don’t fear being wrong. I do it all the time, and everyone laughs along. ๐Ÿ˜
But then it depends on the people you hang out with too. If they constantly make fun of your mistakes in a hurtful manner, then they aren’t the right people to be with. Be with people who accept you just the way you are, right or wrong. โ˜บ๏ธ
Hahaha, I’m glad you liked the list! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. Yes, you are right. I should work on this. Even I am afraid people will laugh at my back in my new school where even after 1 year, and this being my last year, I still feel an alien๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Anyhow, your post did help me realise I should do something about it๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. Not sure about the “Weird You”, but yeah, You’re certainly fun to read..!! ๐Ÿ˜€
May be, ‘cuz you effortlessly bring the element of real conversations in your write-up!
Keep it up and higher.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. You’re Welcome Ellen.. ๐Ÿ˜Š
I remember, i did read one of your post earlier too, something about google translate i guess, but chose to read and smile only, and off course liking that too๐Ÿ˜‹!
But this time, i must say, i had to express.. ! And Credit goes to you..โœจ๐ŸŒธ

        1. Oh really? I’m sorry I didn’t notice coz I wasn’t on WordPress since a couple of months. I’m glad that the Goggle Translate post made you laugh, that was the intention. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰
Thank you so much. Means a lot! โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

  5. Yes being a weirdo is actually being yourself ( like in good way ) , cuz society is always judging whether we follow roles or not we still not enough ! So I guess everyone has to be himself but like you nicely explained , not everything is qualified as weird but there are things which are not allowed and have nothing to do with being a normal weirdo !
I like your post , and I love your honesty โค
